| Josh Moshier is a pianist and composer living in Evanston, IL. In June 2008 he graduated from the Northwestern University School of Music, where he has studied composition, jazz performance, and digital media. He has performed in the Chicago area with many great jazz musicians including Doug Stone, James Davis, John Wojciechowski, Jeff Campbell and Clay Jenkins. His music has been performed by the Joel Spencer Quartet, Dick Oatts with the Northwestern Jazz Ensemble, and by members of Chuck Owen & the Jazz Surge at the International Jazz Composers Symposium. Josh leads a band in Chicago called The Moshier-Lebrun Collective with saxophonist Mike Lebrun, and he has recently assembled an 11-piece band called One Louder. Mike Lebrun grew up on the east coast of South Florida. His plunge into music began with the alto saxophone in the sixth grade. As Mike's musical passion evolved, he found the Alexander Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, FL for his final years of high school. While attending the Northwestern University school of music, he gained exposure to both classical and jazz playing, studying extensively with Frederick L. Hemke and John Wojciechowski, respectively. A summer stint on a Royal Caribbean liner developed Mike's doubling on flute and clarinet. Mike now resides in and perform throughout the Chicago area. Mike and Josh were recently selected to present their music at the 2008 Jazz Composers Symposium in Tampa, FL, where Mike's tune "Jambo" won the prize for Best Small Group Composition. Robert Meier is currently attending the University of Illinois for his masters in jazz bass performance as a teaching assistant to Larry Gray. He is a proficient reader and an accomplished performer in both small group and big band. During his first year at UIUC, his combo, directed by Dana Hall, were selected to perform at the University of North Texas Jazz Festival. For special recognition, the combo was selected to open for David Binney at the final concert and Robert was awarded as "outstanding soloist." His combo was also selected to perform at the Elmhurst Jazz Festival, where Robert was awarded a certificate for "outstanding perfomer." Primarily growing up in Washington D.C, other performance experience includes the Kennedy Center, the Capitol, Twins, Nations, on the Mall, Mexican and German embassy, the National Building Museum, the National Convention Center, and other private functions in the D.C metropolitan area. Robert moved to Illinois in 2003 for his undergraduate degree in music at Northwestern University. Here he studied with Mike Kocour, Joan Hickey and Dennis Carroll. Robert is also capable with the bow and performed in the Northwestern Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and other local orchestras in the Chicago area. Max attended Northwestern University (2003-2007) where he studied with Chicago jazz great Joel Spencer. Although naturally left-handed, Max had been following convention and playing right-handed drums. Due to musical frustration in his first year of college, however, he taught himself to play left-handed, switching his entire drum set around. By his senior year, Max had made the university's top jazz ensemble and combo and was featured on two of the university's CD releases ("Groove Assessment," 2005, and "Extra Credit," 2007--(read a review). As an undergraduate, Max had the opportunity to learn from and perform with artists such as Jim McNeely (Grammy Nominee), Chris Potter, Conrad Herwig, Bob Mintzer, Rufus Reid, Ron Blake, Dennis Carroll, Dana Hall, and George Fludas. Currently, Max plays professionally in the Chicago area. He performs regularly with vocalist Erin McDougald and the Joan Hickey Trio. He also plays in and/or has recorded with groups in other musical genres, like Jon Johnson's Funhouse (rock/blues), The Hubble Funk-o-Scope (funk...duh), Alice's Dark Country (country/bluegrass), Tim Andrews (pop/rock), and The Red Hot Organ Trio (jazz).
